May’s Motivational Message
Welcome to May!
Do you recognise these…Just wait patiently…Patience is a virtue…all things come to those who wait…?
Familiar phrases but how easy do you find it to just wait, to be patient?
Waiting can be very frustrating, we’re waiting for something else and it’s not here yet. Impatience lets us know that we are not where we want to be. The purpose of that frustration is to get us moving, moving hopefully towards something we want more.
But sometimes we get all het up when we can’t do anything to move on or worse still when we can’t or don’t know how to move on.
QUICK QUOTE FOR BUSY PEOPLE:
Franz Kafka summed it up with: “There are 2 cardinal sins from which all others spring: impatience and laziness”
This month try noticing when you’re racing ahead instead of enjoying the moment (impatience) and when you’re dragging your heels when you could be putting great plans on place for good stuff to happen later (laziness).
Above remember the key to most things is deciding to design your own life…what do you want?
THIS MONTH IT’S ALL ABOUT…
… how we balance what we want in the future with the importance of being in the moment and enjoying what we’ve got right now.
Impatience means we might miss out on the here and now, racing ahead in our minds, frustrated with the present. Laziness may mean we miss out on what we could create next; an opportunity missed.
But a word of warning…being patient when you are standing or driving in the inevitable queue, being patient with someone who is taking ages because they are learning something new, being patient with yourself when you’re doing something difficult, these are good times for patience. But you know sometimes, well we actually need to run out of patience, to say ‘this is not ok’ or “I’ve had enough” and to make some changes. Notice what you do and how it feels…is it well placed patience or an avoidance? Be your own best friend and focus on what you want. Consider the changes – or maintenance of the status quo – that you need to create.
Patience has its limits, take it too far and it’s cowardice” George Jackson
Design your life. Enjoy every moment.
Here’s to spring and all the new stuff that might mean for you
