The Feel Good Club

The days getting longer…

The winter may seem never ending dark nights and rainy days but we’re almost at Winter Solstice (Dec 21st 2009) at which point the days start to get longer and we’re half way to Spring. I have even seen some early spring flowers starting to poke their leaves from the soil. On the days when the sun does shine, try facing the sun full on and close your eyes to soak it up. Just having the sun on your eyelids can help shift some of those seasonal blues and give you a little lift. Don’t try this if you’re driving, that would be very risky. If you feel the urge, pull over safely first.
The urge to hibernate can mean we stay in and cut ourselves off a bit from people, try the snail approach, take your hibernation warmth with you in the form of snug warm clothes and get yourself out there connecting…Spending time wrapping up warm, eating well and getting together for a good chat and a laugh, these are things which give us the boosts we need in the colder parts of the year. If you really can’t stand to get out there, invite folks round. Get them to bring things they like to eat and drink, it cuts down on work for you and means you’ll have a bizarre but interesting mix of things to share together.

When life brings you lemons, make lemonade. It’s going to be winter whether you resist it and moan or whether you embrace it and make the best…you choose what you want your days to contain.
