A Competition - The July message
Well we’ve got sunshine but we’ve been knocked out of the world cup.
We might enjoy the garden more but it’ll need more weeding and mowing.
We have the summer ahead of us but maybe there’s work to be done – and indoors at that!
Quick Quotes for busy people:
“I was going to buy a copy of The Power of Positive Thinking but then I thought what the hell good would that do?” Ronnie Shakes
How much effort do you put into keeping yourself exactly where you are and avoiding the good stuff you could be having?
In every moment we have the opportunity to see something that makes us smile or something that makes us frown and in most moments there’s both good and bad.
The magical thing is that – just like working a muscle at the gym – you can get stronger at noticing the things that make you smile.
And of course when you smile, feel good chemicals are released in the body…so find a reason to smile and get free drugs ;o)
So…to the competition…have a look at the picture above and describe what you see: rusty barbed wire, a crumbling coast line, weeds, a long way to walk?
or blue sea, a cloudless sky, wild flowers, free open space?
It’s perhaps easy enough to see the good stuff in this one, I took the photo myself only last week and was open mouthed at the scene, the land was so green and the sky so blue but I also spotted the rusty barbed wire and wondered whether sometimes we focus on the wrong stuff.
People often talk to me about the things that are going wrong and we do need to fix things, sort out problems and recognise when things need to change. The problem is when problems and complaints are all we focus on it seems to engulf us and it can be hard to see a way out. Focus on the opportunities and you’ll find you’re more creative and imaginative when you need to solve the problems.
Enjoy the picture, notice the good stuff and see how many things to make you smile are in the photo. Then see how much other smile opportunities you can notice each day…Notice the good stuff, even in the tough times, there may be a little blue in the sky and there’ll always be a little bit of green on the ground.
That’s it for now folks and remember, if you want to drop me a line with good stuff you’re noticing or experiencing that’d be just dandy. If there’s some good stuff you’d like me to share in next months message, Let’s set a happy ripple going :o)
With much love and sunny smiles,
Pam x
